Ella

Ella is the most visited town in Hill Country among foreign travellers. During the drive from the train station to our guesthouse I was shocked to see how touristy such a small town can get. The cafés and restaurants are “westernised” and there are countless guesthouses and B&Bs.

Initially meet up with the Bentota or Colombo, after breakfast. You will proceed in a vehicle and transfer to Train from the hotel to Ella Rock, with the opportunity to enjoy sightseeing the locality enroute. On arrival at Ella Rock, your trek will begin in the company of your designated guide/trekker, lasting roughly 2 hours. Along your route on the Ella Rock, there will be opportunities to engage in photography and to catch your breath at the wonderful views. Refreshments will be arranged after the trekking adventure. Following the trek, you will be transferred to visit Nine Arch Bridge in Demodara. Lunch and rest will follow. In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a hike to Little Adam’s Peak. As the sun sets on Little Adam’s Peak and you take in the amazing view, we will serve refreshments. At the conclusion of your Ella adventure, we will drop you at the meeting point.

he richly biodiverse Ella has impressive varieties of flora and fauna.

Ella is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations.

Under the tour plan, 3 major attractions can be covered within a day.

Ella Rock is a famous cliff, located high above Ella, roughly a two hour’s strenuous trek from the town. The rock offers stunning views across the hill country and the plains below.

The Nine Arches Bridge which is also called The Bridge in the Sky. The bridge exemplifies one of Sri Lanka’s colonial-era railway construction works.

Little Adam’s Peak is the closest and easiest hike in Ella. It is 1141 metres in distance and from the entrance it takes up to 30 to 45 minutes for the hike.  Views from the summit are panoramic and spectacular.

We spent 2 weeks touring Sri Lanka. We visited national parks, ancient monuments, went white water rafting then relaxed on the a beautiful beach. We had a fantastic trip and particularly enjoyed the stunning scenery and wildlife. Our guide and driver were helpful, knowledgeable and ensured our trip went smoothly. Thanks Suranga…..

Sri Lanka as a country to tour was great with the primarily buddhist ethos making people generally friendly. Bets places were hill country – tea plantations, Ella – and national parks – elephants and wildlife. Thanks Travel with Suranga Team.
